Upcoming Crossbill Talk!

I will be presenting results from our summer 2015 field season at Point Blue in Petaluma, CA on Wednesday the 10th of March.

Point Blue is full of passionate people engaging in conservation science. They also run the major bird banding station at Point Reyes, CA, which is important for tracking migratory movements!

Cones Collected!

We identified forest stands being used by crossbills, and surveyed to find trees they were actively foraging on.

Thanks to the help of Eric Forsman, we managed to collect cone samples from the canopy!

We will use the cones to analyze various characteristics of trees crossbills use vs those they ignore.
